This week's finish ...

I love the effectiveness that a little "nudge" can give when I'm at that "almost done" stage of a project. This week, that motivation comes from Jo's UFO Challenge and CrazyMomQuilts' Finish It Up Friday link party.

A couple weeks ago, I mentioned this project in my list of Un-Finished (quilt-y) Objects.
It's a baby quilt ... Flannel (with elephants!) And soft T-Shirt fabric squares. Fleece on the back.

This week, in addition to some other UFO progress, as well as the beginning of a new project, I got this one quilted up and finished.
The quilting was simple ... straight diagonals on the squares, meandering curves on the flannel.

QR Code Quilt

Why? Because I can. Because I've been fascinated with quilts like this for years. Because stuff-made-from-squares is perfect for patchwork. Because I find quilt inspiration everywhere. Because there are websites to generate QR Codes for just about anything!

Like many of my recent quilts, this one was made from T-Shirt squares ... Small ones, this time (they finish at about 2"). The QR Code is square, and I stitched it to a plush fleece blanket.

I'm just now blogging about it, but this was my brother's Christmas gift. I surprised even myself with the fact that I actually mailed it in time for Christmas.

And, of course, the cat thinks she has to inspect EVERY quilt!

Process was pretty easy ... use a free online QR Code Generator, print the resulting code as your patchwork pattern, and assemble squares ...

Little twin quilts ...

My kids have lots of cousins, but they got a special treat this year: TWIN cousins!

For the baby shower for my new niece AND nephew, I made a couple of cozy T-Shirt-Quilt baby quilts.

One of my girls helped me with the straight-line quilting, and I added some custom quilting around the edges.

Finished Gray T-Shirt Patchwork Quilt

The other day, I finished up a project that I meant to get done months ago. I blogged briefly about it last week.
Hooray for Anti-Procrastination Work!

This is a quilt for my daughter ... T-Shirt fabric and fleece - always a winning combination for coziness!

She requested the colors & style. It's a fun, easy semi-random patchwork ... reminiscent of Minecraft's gravel and stone blocks, but not so Minecraft-y as to be too faddish.

I'll be linking this post to this week's Finish It Up Friday at CrazyMomQuilts ... one of my favorite quilt-y blogs, and a fun place to see things others have finished recently ...

Little Quilts ...

Last year, I started sewing some little quilts ... A friend and a relative were expecting baby girls, and I wanted to welcome their babies with quilts.

I started months early, knowing that, since I was expecting my own baby, as well, I better get the gift-sewing done early, or it wouldn't happen.

I got little quilt tops started, using this pattern ...

For some reason, once the quilt tops were mostly done, I took a break & didn't work on them.

When my baby was nearly-due, and I needed a project to keep my mind off the "this baby's never coming" thoughts, I finished up these little quilts ... Two baby quilts, and a doll quilt for a toddler-big-sister.

This must've been a good "nesting" project - something I "needed" to finish before having my own baby ... My  little one was born the day after I finished the gift-quilts!

This Minecraft-style quilt is almost done ...

This quilt is ready to quilt ... It's for my youngest son, who's a big fan of the Minecraft video game. (This one's made of T-Shirt fabric, backed with fleece ... Super cozy!) I find it fun to put together the bits and pieces that look not only quilt-y, but also Minecraft-y!

Next Up ...

This quilt is next up to be quilted. It's a twin-sized Minecraft-style fleece-&-T-shirt quilt. Probably, it will be for sale on eBay soon.

This is a fun style, and I love the soft coziness of the fleece and T-shirt combination!

Quilting today

I got this little T-shirt quilt (Minecraft-style!) quilted today.

I quilted the T-shirt quilt top onto a fuzzy fleece backing.

This is a throw-size quilt ...
About 42" x 52".

Shirts-and-Jeans Quilt

During the past few months, I've finished several quilts, but I've been short on "blogging time", so, I'll be playing catch-up for a bit, sharing some quilts I've finished lately.

Several weeks ago (see this post), I mentioned the Shirts-and-Jeans quilt that I finished. I've been meaning to add a few more pictures of that quilt.

Lately, I've been blogging from my phone a lot, since blogging from my phone is usually faster. (Snap a pic ... write some words ... press publish -- that works pretty efficiently, and efficiency is key some days!)

In order for my pictures to be "more interesting", I've been trying out the concept of outdoor pictures of quilts.

While I've never been one to take my quilts on field trips, or lay them in the grass/snow/tree ... this one kind of worked.

The more natural light, the better, right?

I stuck the quilt to the metal shed with super-strong magnets. Like I said, it kind of worked. :-)
(Full disclosure: There was another quilt that did not fare so well, and did not stay up long enough for a pic. So I don't necessarily recommend this method!)

Shirts and Jeans. A classic combination.
This one's about twin-size ... 65" x 75".
This quilt is for sale on eBay for a little while.

More Fleece-and-Jeans Quilting ...

In the past few weeks, I've been sewing a lot of denim & jeans ... with pleasing results. :-)
Here's the latest fleece-and-jeans quilt.

ProsperityStuff Denim Jeans Quilt Top

(Apparently, it's all the rage to take quilt pictures with one's feet in the picture. No one's sure why. But, since I was wearing my favorite socks, I can go with it here ...)

ProsperityStuff Denim Jeans Quilt - and knitted socks

This fleece-and-jeans quilt is a wedding gift for a friend who's getting married soon - so I had fun with the little custom detail of including their initials with a heart between ...

ProsperityStuff Fleece & Jeans Quilt

It's about the size of my couch, so it makes a good (big) throw-size quilt that's warm & fuzzy ...

Putting congratulations & best wishes into tangible form - into something warm and cozy - into something unique and customized - that's my kind of fun!

Another Carolina Panther

While I was making the Carolina Panthers jeans quilt, my oldest son asked me if I could sew a smaller Panthers logo for him ... He just wanted it stitched onto a fleece blanket.

So, ever since then, I've been meaning to get to it.

This past weekend, I took a bit of time, a bit of Heat 'n Bond, a bit of white fabric, teal fabric, and black velvet ... and sewed up a Panthers logo.

The Panther is just about 10 inches high, zig-zagged along the raw edges, so it was relatively quick.

So, the new Carolina Panthers logo on a fleece blanket joins my first-ever jeans quilt on my oldest son's bed ... I'm hoping that the "raggedy" look works well with the plush, fuzzy fleece ...

Another Fleece and Jeans Quilt!

In the past few months, I've made a lot of jeans quilts. I finished another one this week!

This one is for my youngest son. He's the only kid that didn't have a fleece-backed-jeans-quilt yet.

So he's a happy guy. He's had his fleece blanket on his bed for a while, so I (finally) sewed up the jeans, and stitched them onto his fleece.

As always, I've had fun with all the jeans-y details on the quilt.

As usual, these are partly jeans we've used, and partly thrift-store jeans. (Love it when they have those 50-cent sales!) For a change, I decided to alternate big squares (cut at 13") with my usual small ones.

For other jeans quilt history, click the "Jeans" label in the sidebar ... This makes my #5 jeans quilt for my kids ... plus I've made occasional other jeans quilts for gifts ...

Anyway, now that each of the kids has a super-cozy, fuzzy fleece-and-jeans quilt ... for some reason, we're thinkin' that the grownups around here might need one ...

Working on that ... more details later, but here's a sneak peek ...
